Appeal After Landlord Confronted by Burglar at Rochdale Pub

Detectives in Rochdale are appealing for information after a burglar broke into a pub and ransacked the living quarters during last orders yesterday evening, Thursday 26 August 2004.

The landlord was serving the last round of drinks at the Windmill pub on Manchester Road at around 11.00pm when he heard a noise from upstairs.

As he reached the first floor he saw a man run out of the bedroom. The landlord tried to grab him, but the offender punched him in the face. The pair fell to the floor where the victim received a blow to his jaw before the burglar scrambled free and escaped.

Police arrived and discovered that the living quarters had been ransacked and cash had been stolen.

The offender has been described as white, around 25 years old, 5ft 8ins tall with a medium build.
