78 Year Old Woman Robbed In Her Home

Detectives in Rochdale are appealing for information following a robbery at an elderly woman's home on Castlemere Street on Thursday 7 October 2004.

At approximately 2.40pm a man smashed a ground floor window at the 78-year-old woman's home. He went into the living room where she was sitting and threw her onto the floor. The offender stole her handbag and some jewellery before escaping through the kitchen door at the rear of the house.

The man is described as white, aged 18 to 20 years, with short dark hair, possibly in a parting. He is of average height and average build and was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt with jeans.

He stole a brown leather handbag, a gold chain with a crucifix pendant and four gold rings. There was a diamond ring, pearl ring, sapphire ring and emerald ring.

Detective Constable Gina from Rochdale CID said: "This was a traumatic incident for the elderly woman to experience in her own home. Thankfully she was not seriously injured.

"I would appeal for anyone who sees any of the jewellery or has any information about the robbery to contact Rochdale CID on 0161 856 8754 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
