Still Missing - Martin McGuiness

Date published: 17 February 2005

Police in Rochdale are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a 26-year-old man who has been missing from Birch Hill Hospital for almost one month.

Martin Rory McGuiness, dob. 10/09/78 was last seen leaving the hospital on Halifax Road on Saturday 22 January 2005. It is not known where he was heading. He is described as white, 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, with ginger curly hair and blue eyes. He also has ginger facial hair and it is possible he was wearing light coloured jeans when he disappeared. He speaks with an Irish accent, which has a local inflection.

Although Martin is originally from Ireland, it is possible he may be anywhere across the country. Police are extremely concerned for his welfare, as it is believed he does not have any other clothing with him.

Anyone who may have seen Martin or who knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact police at Rochdale on 0161 856 4640 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Martin is a voluntary patient at the hospital. Police are extremely concerned as he suffers from Schizophrenia and is without his medication. He is not believed to be a danger to the public.
