A dance with a difference

The snow covered mountains of the Brecon Beacons were the latest venue of Springhill Hospice fundraisers. With Baby Springy tagging along for the ride, Kevin Hughes, Peter Clare, Mick Halkyard and Terence Loveridge, took on The Fan Dance.

This 24 km gruelling non-navigational race over two sides of the highest mountain the Brecon Beacons, Pen Y Fan is not for the faint hearted, simply finishing the all-terrain SAS selection course is an achievement in itself.

The victorious foursome enjoyed a day of beautiful scenery and a challenging 24km route, all in aid of Springhill Hospice.

Kevin Hughes said: "We had an excellent day with around 200 other contestants, there were many great compliments made to me as I was carrying Springy on my back for the duration.

“Although he suffered minor frost bite, he enjoyed the whole experience and expressed a desire to follow us on our next challenge.”

Barbara Lloyd, Springhill’s Community Support Fundraiser, said: “A great experience for Kevin and pals and an extreme way of raising money for the Hospice.

“A fabulous achievement for them and lovely to see Baby Springy getting out and about.”
