New reservist policy incorporating adult cadet instructors for council

Date published: 11 February 2016

Reservist including adult cadet instructors policy

Reservists presently are covered by statute law, by bringing this into a council policy the opportunity has been taken to incorporate adult cadet instructors.

The Army Cadet Force is a youth organisation and does not form part of the fighting strength of the British army.

It is fully funded by the MoD which provides clothing, equipment, firearms and instructors from the regular amy. Command, control, governance and safeguarding are exercised through the army chain of command.

The Army Cadet Force adheres to army values and standards.

Each detachment is affiliated to a regiment or corps.

Adult cadet force officers hold the Queen’s Commission and are governed by military law just as regular and reserve officers are.

Summary reservist policy including adult cadet instructors

At present the council grants leave to a reservists, this leave period being an additional 10 days.

The reservist policy, including adult cadet instructors, will bring the adult cadet instructor in line with the same leave entitlement as a reservist.

The commitment of the adult cadet instructor is the similar to a reservist.

The reservist and the adult cadet instructor would have to produce evidence of attendance prior to the leave being granted and would only be given leave covering the days on annual camp.

The policy includes all adult cadet instructors – air, amy and sea adult cadet instructors.
