Toddler In ‘Critical Condition’ After Running For His Ball

A 3-year-old boy is in hospital with fractured leg and a serious head injury, following a serious traffic collision on the bottom end of Whitworth Road last night.

The boy, from Jarvis Street, was believed to have been playing football across the road from Wheel Boutique ladies wear, on a car park, and had stepped out between two parked cars while trying to get his ball.

He then collided with a passing Ford Mondeo, which was travelling towards the junction with Grasmere Street.

The police were called after reports that the boy was lying in the road, and he was then taken to Rochdale Infirmary where he remains in a critical condition.
