Help Is On Hand For Getting Back In Education

Date published: 07 June 2005

Rochdale Borough Children’s Services along with other agencies operating within the Rochdale Borough, have formed the ‘Opportunity Knocks’ Team, and will be taking to the streets to offer information, guidance, support, financial help and opportunities available in the area.

The unique project is aimed at providing a ‘one stop’ information service without people having to leave their home, and following on from a successful pilot project in Langley and Hollin area last year, the ‘OK Team’ will be taking to the streets of Smallbridge on Monday 13 June.

Sara Broom from RoFTRA said, "The aim is to make people aware of the help around them, and to help them get back into education. Some people might put of off becasue they have children, we are here to break down barriers and show how it's all still possible."

The 'OK team' consists of workers from a range of agencies including, Rochdale Federation of Tenants & Residents Association (RoFTRA), The Carers Resource, the Childcare Information & Recruitment Service, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Connexions, Employment Links, Jobcentre Plus, Hopwood Hall College, Learn Local, RoFTRA, the Shaw Trust. The team represents such a wide range of services that there’s bound to be valuable information and advice to be had by everyone.
