Ascot at Nutters raises thousands for NSPCC Childline

Date published: 18 June 2016

The 12th annual ‘Ascot at Nutters’ event, in support of the NSPCC, saw ladies once again dressing to impress as if they were at Ascot for the races.

Organised by The Rotary Club of Rochdale, under the leadership of past president Bob Chadwick, the event raised £4,000 for the NSPCC Childline service.

Merrilyn Chadwick, the Chairwoman of the Rochdale Branch of the NSPCC, thanked all involved for another "most successful day".

Fisherfield Childcare, who support the event, presented NSPCC Community Appeals Manager Debbie Sefton with a cheque for over £11,000 which they had raised during the year. This donation means Fisherfield has now raised over £50,000 for the NSPCC.

Bob Chadwick, from The Rotary Club of Rochdale, said: “Another fantastic Ascot Ladies Day at Nutters, with over £15,000 raised thanks to Fisherfield Childcare.

"Thanks to all the team for their efforts.

"Happy 30th birthday Childline.”

John Kay, Rochdale Online Director and Rotary Club of Rochdale member, added: “This year’s NSPCC Ascot at Nutters proved to be an exceptional event.

"The event was again held in the excellent Nutters restaurant which was decorated to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday."

During the event guests were treated to a cocktail reception before sitting down to a three course meal prepared by Chef Andrew Nutter:

  • Fillet of Seabass with Lemon and Fermented Black Garlic, Butternut Squah Tabboulah and a Yoghurt and Cumin Dressing
  • Golden Roast Goosnargh Chicken with Its Own Leg Confit, Rosemary Potato Fondant and a Red Wine and Basil Sauce
  • The Royal Flush of Dessert

As well as the sumptuous meal, guests enjoyed live coverage of the races at Ascot and took part in a raffle and best hat competition, whilst enjoying the ambience of Nutters Restaurant.

There was also in a special raffle by Nutters Restaurant for a gourmet meal for two. Everyone who bought a raffle ticket was able to visit Andrew Nutter’s new gastronomic venture, The Bird at Birtle, which has its official opening next Monday.
