Mayor Ray Dutton and Mayoress Elaine Dutton, Councillors Peter Winkler, Michael Holly ‏and Jim Gartside led the procession through the village as hundreds of people lined the streets for Norden Carnival.

The huge carnival parade travelled along Edenfield Road to the bus terminus and then back to Shawfield Lane to Norden School.

At the school, there was a selection of food and refreshments, fairground attractions, bouncy castles, craft stalls and other entertainment and activities until 4.30pm.

King and Queen for the Day were James Connett and Lily Dale - last year's Best Dressed Boy and Girl.

  • Best Dressed Shop Window - The Garden of Eden
  • Best Dressed Float - Bamford Primary
  • Best Walking Group - St Vincent's Pre School
  • Best Dressed Boy and next year's Carnival King - Alfie Radcliffe
  • Best Dressed Girl and next year's Carnival Queen - Eva Jackson

The pubs and restaurants along the route did a roaring trade and the music added to the atmosphere.

The carnival takes place every June and raises money for charity and good causes in Norden and Rochdale.
