Jamie Lowe sentenced for sexual offences against a child

Date published: 19 July 2016

Jamie Lowe, of Rochdale, was sentenced to 30 months each - to be served concurrently - for eight sexual offences against a child.

Lowe, 21, will have to sign onto the sex offenders register for life. A Sexual Harm Prevention Order, restricting Lowe’s contact with children has also been put in place.

He was found guilty by a unanimous verdict following a three day trial at Aylesbury Crown Court.

The offences concern one female victim and took place in Buckinghamshire.

Recorder Buckingham sentenced Lowe on the basis of being aged under 18 when the offences occurred but added: “You didn’t stop what you were doing even when you were older. You knew from the outset that what you were doing was wrong.”

Detective Constable Melissa Lee, of Thames Valley Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “This was a case in which the victim showed great bravery in coming forward and in telling police and the court what had happened to her.

"Although Lowe was under 18 himself when these offences occurred, he took advantage of the vulnerability of a young girl for his own gratification. This sentence demonstrates that the damage caused by such behaviour is not something police and the courts will take lightly.”
