Attempted armed robbery at Buersil Post Office

Two men have been arrested following an attempted armed robbery at a post office in Rochdale this morning, Tuesday 25 October 2005.

Shortly after 11am two men, one armed with a firearm, entered Buersil Post Office on Oldham Road. They threatened staff members and demanded that they hand over money.

One of the offenders then hit a member of staff over the head with the gun. The firearm was discharged and the offenders ran off along Oldham Road, pursued by a number of members of the public.

One man has been taken to Rochdale Infirmary suffering from a head injury.

Two men have since been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and are currently being questioned by detectives.
