Local reaction to Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk being arrested in Spain after a row with ex-wife Karen has been swift and scathing.

• Graham Wilkinson added; "I can't believe he has lasted this long. This disgrace to Rochdale will get where castor oil can't. I hope that they lock him up and throw away the key."

• Kenneth Hall called for Danczuk to go: "Surely he has to go now. Time for a midterm election in Rochdale for a new MP."
  
  In a post directed at the local and national Labour party, Mr Hall said: "Surely it is time for you to take action and remove the local Labour MP. The latest story is in a long line of negative stories about the local MP for Rochdale. If the local Labour councillors and local Labour party supporters keep backing up the local MP then it does show how you have lost the plot. If the Labour Party have any real values about them then they should remove the MP and select someone else."
  
  
• Joan Turner added: "It's not so much getting himself a bad name but he brings down the Labour Party and mostly Rochdale, we don't need a pillock like him. Wake up Labour and get rid because at the next election you could possibly lose respect from the town's voting public. I don't do politics but he is peeing me off now with all the bad publicity for the borough."
  
  
• Commenting after news of Danczuk's release without charge, Sophena Houlihan, 17-year-old when Danczuk was sending her sex messages, said: "Sorry but if Labour can't see now that Simon Danczuk is an absolute lying, manipulating scumbag I won't be supporting them any more."
