Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust response to Alberti Report
Date published: 01 November 2005
The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has responded to the Alberti report.
Greater Manchester SHA chief executive Neil Goodwin said, "I would like to thank George and Joan for taking on this major piece of work at short notice and for their comprehensive report."
"All NHS organisations are complex, but Pennine Acute Trust is more so given that it has to manage four hospitals and staff who were brought together from different organisational cultures."
"That the trust has come this far is tribute to the hard work of the board and the management team, but clearly there is much more to be done. The blueprint set out in the report represents the future for the organisation, one in which doctors, nurses and other staff can work positively with the trust management."
Chris Appleby, chief executive of the Trust, said: "We accept this report, and believe that it offers us the opportunity to use its guidance to move the organisation to a new level. That will bring benefits to staff and patients alike."
"It will not be easy, and will involve us working with all staff, at all levels, along with external stakeholders. The report offers us challenges – and the management team are committed to meeting them."
Mr Appleby was unavailable all day for further questions.
