Rochdale Hornets' magnificent season celebrated at Awards Dinner

Rochdale Hornets' magnificent season, culminating in victory over Toulouse Olympique in the League One Promotion Final at Stade Ernest-Argelés in Blagnac, France, was celebrated at the club's end of season awards dinner on Friday evening (7 October).

Players, staff and supporters joined together at Rochdale Cricket Club to enjoy a sumptuous three course meal, provided by The Quirky Catering Company, followed by awards being presented to the whole Hornets family, including Hornets Ladies, Hornets Wheelchair Team as well as the Hornets First Team.

The evening was opened by Terry Morley and Mike Ratu and included an interview conducted by Hornets director Luke Harrison with coach Alan Kilshaw about the team's victory in Toulouse.

Awards were presented by James Tilley, Jim Stringer, Trevor Haigh, Wendy Hamer and Simon Danczuk.

The winners:

First Team

  • Timekeeper’s Award - Ben Moores
  • Supporter’s Player of the Year Award – Jono Smith
  • Top Try Scorer – Jono Smith
  • Coaches Player of the Year - Jono Smith
  • Player’s Player of the Year – Danny Yates and Warren Thompson

Wheelchair Rugby League

  • Coaches Player Award - Brian Lamb
  • Players’ Player Award - Hammad Ali

Hornets Ladies’

  • Commitment Trophy - Gaynor Ramsbottom
