Francis Doherty, a wanted sex offender, was caught on CCTV at around 10.20am on Wednesday (26 October) on Halifax Road in Rochdale, and was previously captured on CCTV in Oldham on 18 October.

Doherty, also known as Frank Doherty, is wanted for breach of his licence conditions.

The 63-year-old, who has links to Rawtenstall, Bacup and Haslingden, was jailed for three years in 2005 after being convicted of two sexual assaults.

Following extensive enquiries, police have traced Doherty to the Greater Manchester area.

He was seen walking with a stick and wearing a distinctive camouflage-style hoodie.

Temp Detective Sergeant Stephen Munro, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are continuing to appeal for information as to Doherty’s whereabouts after he breached his licence conditions.

“From our enquiries we now know he is likely to be in the Greater Manchester area.

“It is possible Doherty could be begging but unknown where and he may be sleeping rough.

“He is wearing a distinctive hoodie and walking with a stick. If you have seen someone matching his description please get in touch.

“Anyone who can assist with our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately.”

If you can help, contact police on 101 quoting log reference 0030 of October 15.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be called on 0800 555 111.
