Fly tipping in Ashworth Valley blocked farm entrance

Date published: 21 February 2017

Fly tipping on Ashworth Road, blocking a farm entrance, prevented a carer accessing the farm track to help with the farmer's elderly mother on Tuesday morning (21 February).

The Friends of Ashworth Valley had to call the Council's enforcement team and it is understood an officer met the farmer and his wife at the scene.

The Enforcement Officer raised a ticket to have the debris removed and commenced to photograph and inspect the waste as a couple of the bags contained household rubbish.

A spokesperson for the Friends of Ashworth Valley said: “In there he found prescription tablets with names on from a pharmacy in Cheetham Hill, also lots of packets of waxing strips.

“Debris looked like it was from a recently refurbished bathroom with lots of rubble, blue tiles, furniture fitments and chairs.

“Between us we bagged and removed the rubbish to the side of the road so the carer could gain access.

“If anyone recognises the blue tiles, please let us know. It is always good to show the evidence and log it correctly.

“Thank you to the Enforcement Officer and team for their speedy response.”
