Residents encouraged to be more physically active

Date published: 22 March 2017

Residents in the borough of Rochdale are being encouraged to build more physical activity into their lives, starting with just 10 minutes of brisk walking per day.

Rochdale Borough Council is supporting the drive to get adults walking briskly for at least 10 continuous minutes every day.

Councillor Janet Emsley, Rochdale Borough Council’s cabinet member for culture, health and wellbeing, said: “Walking is a really easy and cost effective way to get more active and improve your own health and wellbeing. All you need is just 10 minutes and you, so whether you are walking the dog or just popping to the shops, by picking up the pace just a little bit you can easily turn a 10 minute walk into 10 minutes of good exercise that can really work wonders for you.”
