Live hand grenade found in Deeplish
A discarded live hand grenade, later identified as a flash bang grenade, was found in a wooded area off Cecil Street in the Deeplish area on Monday.
The area was cordoned off and bomb disposal officers were deployed to assess the situation. The device was recovered to be made safe.
A police spokesperson said: "Officers from the town centre Milkstone & Deeplish neighbourhood team, acting on information from a member of the public, located a discarded live hand grenade in a wooded area off Cecil Street in the Milkstone & Deeplish area."
