Police are appealing for a woman who was hit over the head with a bottle to come forward.

On Monday 27 March 2017 police were called to Tesco on Barton Road in Middleton after a woman came into the shop with a serious head injury having been hit over the head with a bottle.

The woman refused medical attention and left the shop before police arrived.

Witnesses reported to police that the woman had got out of a taxi with another woman in Middleton Town Centre, near to the bus station and following a verbal altercation with a group of teenage boys they were attacked and one of the women was hit in the face then one of the boys approached the woman from behind and hit her over the head with a glass bottle.

Due to the serious nature of this assault police are keen to speak to the victim and find those responsible.

PC Jen Smith from GMP’s Rochdale Borough said: “Just because this assault has not been reported doesn’t mean that we should forget it happened.

“This was a serious assault and we want to find those responsible before they inflict violence on someone else.

“To the victim, we want to check that you are okay and make sure you are recovering well. Don’t be afraid to report his crime. We want to fully investigate what happened to you.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 8701, alternatively call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
