Thieves steal TV from Rochdale Ambulance Station

Date published: 25 April 2017

Thieves have stolen a television from Rochdale Ambulance Station on Whitehall Street, striking in the early hours of Friday (21 April).

The television and remote control were stolen from the paramedics’ mess room, when they were out responding to emergencies.

One angry paramedic said: “We don't get much time to watch television but when we are on our 30 minute meal break in the middle of a 12 hour night shift it's handy to have something to take our minds off the job, even for a short time.”

Gary Eaton, Rochdale Operations Manager for North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS), said: “We can confirm that in the early hours of Friday morning, 21 April, whilst our staff were out responding to emergencies, thieves targeted Rochdale Ambulance Station and broke in stealing a television and remote control.

“We are appalled that people will steal from our staff who work tirelessly to help people in the community. We provide facilities such as televisions in our stations to enable them to have some down time from their very busy shifts when they are on breaks and it is extremely demoralising for staff to have these taken from them when they spend all their time trying to help people.

“The police have been informed, however no arrests have so far been made. We urge anyone who has any information about this crime to contact the police on 101.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Between 12.30am and 1.50am on Friday 21 April, thieves have gained access to a building on Whitehall Street, Rochdale.

“Once inside they stole a television and made off.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 155 of 21 April.
