A graffitied subway by Albert Royds Street and Halifax Road has received a fresh coat of paint.

Following reports of ‘extensive’ graffiti covering the walls, Rochdale Borough Council sent a team to inspect and clear up the subway.

As a result, the subway is now much brighter as every trace of the offending graffiti has been removed.

Head of Environmental Management, Martin Taylor, said: “Our teams were made aware of extensive graffiti in the subway by Halifax Road and Albert Royds Street. Upon inspection, we put a team to work clearing the subway of all graffiti and re-painting after this clean up to refresh the area and make it acceptable for use.

“This is representative of our commitment to a cleaner, greener borough and we are making huge strides in achieving this, which I hope has been noticed by residents.”
