Redwood School gets in the swing with American golf

Date published: 29 April 2017

Children from Redwood School in Rochdale joined thousands of golf fans at the first day of the The Golf Show by American Golf at Event City on Friday.

The golf retailer invited school children from all across the North West to experience golf for the first time at the free Golf Show as it continues its drive to get more people playing the game.

Pupils from Redwood School attended the free event, receiving expert tuition from American Golf and their junior partners Golphin for Kids.

Teacher James Fallows said: “Thank you to American Golf for giving us the chance to have such an enjoyable day, the children have loved every minute and I think we might even have some budding golfers in the group.”

All the local schools in attendance were working in partnership with Greater Sport, a registered charity that works with a wide range of organisations such as American Golf to get Greater Manchester residents more active.

Daniel Gathercole, Director of Marketing and Communications at American Golf said: “It’s been fantastic to have so many children at the show today, trying the game for the first time and having so much fun.

“We’ve put on the show for free as we just want more people hitting more golf balls. To see so many young faces doing that has been really satisfying and we will do everything we can to make sure that anyone who got the golf bug today continues to get opportunities to hit balls for free with American Golf.”

The Golf Show by American Golf continues through Saturday and Sunday at Event City, any golfers young or old who want to have a go at the game head down and sign up on the door.
