The Danczuks stoop to new low

Date published: 26 May 2017

Team Danczuk plumbed new depths this week as Danczuk and his ex wife Karen sought to use the Manchester Arena atrocity to smear Tony Lloyd, the Labour candidate in the forthcoming general election, by [wrongly] accusing him of failing to respect the agreement by political parties to suspend campaigning as a mark of respect, and quite outrageously accusing him of not caring.

Ms Danczuk, linking to a tweet with a Labour leaflet being delivered through a letterbox, sarcastically posted: 'Glad to see @tony4rochdale is respecting the "no campaigning" out of respect of the #ManchesterBombing.'  Followed up by: 'You really don't care do you' - with an angry face emoji.

Simon Danczuk weighed in with: 'Really poor from @tony4rochdale considering labour party nationally suspended campaigning as a mark of respect.'

However, the leaflet was actually delivered by the Royal Mail, over whom political parties have no control. Despite this being pointed out to the Danczuks, neither have removed their scurrilous tweets and no correction and apology, as requested, has been forthcoming.

Referring to Karen Danczuk, Labour Party election agent Councillor Allen Brett said: "Her remarks were particularly distasteful. To try and make cheap political points out of the horrendous and vile terrorist attack was offensive to everyone.

"As usual she got it wrong.

"Are there no depths she won't sink to in her shabby quest for self publicity?"

The Danczuks have been engaged in a particularly "nasty and vindictive" campaign against Tony Lloyd since Mr Lloyd was chosen as the Labour Party candidate, much to the chagrin of Danczuk who coveted the Labour candidacy himself.

Councillor Brett added: "The public are getting fed up with the Danczuk's forever dragging Rochdale through the mud. The sooner we're rid of them the better."

Simon Danczuk remains under police investigation over an allegation of rape and for claiming £11,500 in expenses he had no right to claim.

Neither of the Danczuks has replied to an invitation to comment.
