Former Rochdale MP Liz Lynne joins Andy Kelly's election campaign

Date published: 27 May 2017

Liz Lynne, Liberal Democrat MP for Rochdale from 1992-1997, has been back in town to join Andy Kelly's election campaign. Liz, who still has many friends in the town has been spending the weekend delivering leaflets and knocking on doors with Andy Kelly and his Lib Dem team.

She said: "I still have many fond memories from my time as MP in Rochdale. I still have many friends who I have kept in touch with. It's clear speaking to people that they are willing to give the Liberal Democrats the chance to make the changes that Rochdale desperately deserves.

"Andy Kelly is a breath of fresh air. He's got likeability and enthusiasm that really resonates with local people.

"Many people I spoke to are despairing of politics in Rochdale and want change. That change has to be Andy Kelly - he'd make an excellent MP."

Councillor Andy Kelly, the Liberal Democrat Candidate in June's General Election said: "Liz has always kept in touch and it's been great to have her knocking on doors. Many people still remember her and her tireless campaigning for the people of Rochdale and The Pennines.

"It's been great having former MPs like Liz and Paul Rowen playing a huge part in our campaign.

"Liz was impressed with the number of Liberal Democrat new members hitting the doors. People wanting change need to vote for it and the signs are good that on Thursday 8 June we can make a new start together."
