Daphanie Carol Taylor releases second novel, 'Three Sisters'

Date published: 24 July 2017

Rochdale author Daphanie Carol Taylor has released her second novel, 'Three Sisters': a historical tale of dark secrets and betrayal entwined in the lives of three daughters of a wealthy industrialist.

The thriller follows the titled sisters, Evelyne, Ruth and Joanne, daughters of third-generation industrialist John Kershaw.

Daphanie - real name Carol Dodgson - says the book is aimed at 'any age group' and is now working on her third novel.

She added: "I thought I would try my hand in this book [Three Sisters] to write a mystery running along dark secrets and betrayal. I don't want to give too much away.

"The three sisters lived with their parents, John and Jane Kershaw, in St John's Wood- a leafy suburb of London. Evelyne was the eldest; Ruth and Joanne were the youngest. Their father was an industrialist and owned an engineering company, which had been handed down from two generations to John Kershaw. He was proud of its history of being one of the forerunners in the industry.

"Times were now changing in England after the Second World War: 'the war to end all wars', said the then-government of the day. It had indeed made John Kershaw's family very wealthy indeed. Evelyne and Ruth had an idyllic upbringing and could pursue their ambitions after all; their socialising was finished. The family's fortune allowed them to go to a private girl's school, which their mother had attended years earlier."

Daphanie has always been interested in writing from an early age and used to create stories for her granddaughter before trying her hand at publishing novels.

Her debut novel, 'The New Beginning', was published in December last year, following the journey of four young women from Oldham and Rochdale who emigrate to Australia before the Second World War.

Inspired by real historical events of British workers moving to Australia to work in the mills, the four women rise to the challenge of making a new start, bringing their Lancastrian knowledge of cotton-spinning to the Australian mills before eventually parting ways and starting separate lives.

As the events of the era rattle the world around them, the book tells the story of how their lives and outlooks are shaped, and how it is ultimately their lasting bond of friendship which holds them all together.

'Three Sisters' is published by Authorhouse and is available in paperback and as an ebook from:
