Councillor Liam O’Rourke graduates with an MA in Political Science

Date published: 25 July 2017

Councillor Liam O’Rourke has graduated with an MA in Political Science - Democracy and Elections (Research Route) and passed with a Merit.

His dissertation explored the relationship between political parties internal democracy and election results.

He did his MA part time at the University of Manchester whist combining it with council duties.

Councillor O’Rourke said: “I'm delighted that my hard work over the past years has paid off, but I'm especially pleased that I can really focus in on the issues I want to focus on such as mental health in young people, homelessness and Greater Manchester devolution.

“I'm hoping to use the skills gained during the MA to continue getting a good deal from the council for North Heywood residents.

“I also have to say a massive thank you to my dissertation supervisor, Dr Nick Turnbull, who was a huge help to me throughout my MA.”
