GMP special constable sacked for "homophobic" comment

Date published: 16 December 2017

A special constable has been sacked for posting a "homophobic" reply on social media.

The name of the special or where in Greater Manchester he was based has not been revealed.

Greater Manchester Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said the comment was a serious breach of the force's code of professional standards and left him with "no alternative but to dismiss the special constable".

Mr Hopkins said GMP has a "very good relationship with the LGBT community right across Greater Manchester".
