Grenade found in Rochdale canal

A grenade was found in Rochdale canal on Sunday 14 January while a fisherman was magnet fishing between Milkstone Road and Oldham Road, Rochdale.
Police were called, and the bomb disposal unit attended.
A police spokesperson said: “The police were called at 2.00pm on Sunday 14 January to a grenade which was found in Rochdale canal.
“Milkstone Road and Well I’Th Lane were closed for a time.
“The Bomb Disposal Unit did a controlled explosion.”
