Dental service gets a polish and refresh

Date published: 22 January 2018

Five new dentists have been recruited by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Dental Service across Oldham, Heywood, Middleton, Rochdale and Bury.

The service also has a new contact number for patients who need an emergency appointment.

The new contact number goes live on World Toothache Day on the 9 February 2018- patients who need an urgent appointment can contact the service on 0161 716 2525.

The new dentists will join a team of specialist dentists, dental hygienists, dental therapists, dental nurses and a wide support team.

The dental service is part of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and provides; urgent care appointments, care for individuals of all ages whose special requirements cannot be met by a general dental practice, a general anaesthetic service for young children and people with complex needs and domiciliary care, minor oral surgery, and other services.

The dental service was inspected by the CQC in 2017 which revealed a positive report.

The CQC found staff to be, ‘hard working, caring and committed’ and the service was providing ‘effective care’. The inspection also commented positively on staff training, patient care, handling of medical emergencies, treatment planning, patient confidentiality, patient needs and overall running of the service.

Richard Valle-Jones, Clinical Director said: “We are really happy that the service has developed a new single point of contact for patients. This will make it easier for patients to contact the service and make an appointment.”
