Quarry objections submitted to Council planning department
Date published: 20 November 2007
Yesterday (Monday 19 November) was the deadline day for public objections to the recommencement of mineral extraction at Ding Quarry to be submitted to Rochdale Council. Ding Quarry Campaign Group have confirmed that all names added so far to the petition on the Ding Quarry website have been forwarded to the planning office and have been acknowledged as having been added to the file for determination.
Rochdale Online handed in hundreds of objection forms sent via the Ding Quarry Campaign pages in the News section of Rochdale Online:
A spokeswoman for the Council has confirmed receipt of "the petition that was handed in to the planning office yesterday".
As the fight against the quarry goes on, the Ding Quarry Campaign Group is having a traffic statement prepared by a leading authority. This will look at DP Williams statement and involve a qualitative assessment of the existing conditions, making the most of any sub-standard existing highway features (if present in a technical sense) and highlighting potential impacts on local pedestrian and cycle routes, with particular reference to school routes.
The Ding Quarry Campaign Group fighting fund once declared 'dormant' by Yorkshire bank has been re-instated. Ian Hines of the Campaign Group said: "we have had a great bonus over the twelve years with interest and hope we can put the monies to good use".
