Roadworks, temporary local road closures, parades and restrictions

Area: Middleton

Location: Mosedale Road

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Mosedale Road from a point 70 metres south of its junction with Falcon Drive for the remainder of its length in a northerly direction.
Expected start and finish: 8am, Saturday, 21 April 2018 - 6pm, Thursday, 31 May 2018
Reason: to facilitate the safe installation of a new sewer and to facilitate the safe reconstruction of the carriageways.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Newton Crescent, Gale Drive and Mosedale Road.  

Location: Manchester Old Road - Lee Rigby Memorial Parade

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Manchester Old Road from its junction with Alkrington Park Road to its junction with Parkfield Drive. 
Expected start and finish: 30 minutes between 12:30pm and 2pm Sunday, 20 May 2018.
Reason: to facilitate the safe holding of the Lee Rigby Memorial Parade 2018. 
Alternative route: Due to the nature of the temporary order, it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.       

Location: Lands End Road

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Lands End Road from its junction with Manchester Old Road to a point 10 metres south of its junction with Manchester Old Road. 
Expected start and finish: 8am, Saturday, 2nd June 2018-6pm, Sunday, 3rd June 2018.
Reason: to facilitate the safe installation of new sewer monitoring equipment.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Lister Road, Kelvin Avenue and Manchester Old Road. 

Location: Latrigg Crescent

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Latrigg Crescent from its junction with Windermere Road for a distance of 80 metres in a northerly direction.
Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 4 June 2018 - 6pm, Friday, 8 June 2018
Reason: to facilitate the safe installation of a new water mains supply.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Latrigg Crescent and Windermere Road.   

Area: Rochdale

Location: Footpath, Oldham Road/ Gilbrook Way

to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from:

  • Rochdale Footpath 43, RocFFp43, for its entire length in an east north east direction from its junction with Oldham Road, Rochdale being 50 metres south south east from the most southerly corner of 2 Gilbrook Way, to its junction with Milnrow Footpath 331, MilFp33l.
  • Milnrow Footpath 331, MilFp33l, for its entire length in an east north east direction from its junction with RocFFp43 for 92 metres before turning in an easterly direction for 23 metres to its junction with Milnrow Footpath 329, MilFp329, and Milnrow Footpath 330, MilFp33O, being 123 metres east of the most northerly corner of 37 Sunhill Close, Rochdale.

Expected start and finish: 12.01am, Thursday, 14 December 2017 - midnight, Wednesday, 14 November 2018.
Reason: The order is required to facilitate underground cabling works by Electricity North West.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for pedestrians.

Location: Rochdale Town Centre Footpaths

  • To temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the following: 
    • Milton Street, the easterly footway from its junction with Baillie Street to its junction with Smith Street.
    • Smith Street, the northerly footway from its junction with Milton Street to its junction with John Street.
    • John Street, the westerly footway from its junction with Smith Street to a point 100 metres north of its junction with Baillie Street.
  • And to temporarily prohibit traffic from proceeding along the following:
    • Kelsall Street, for its entire length.
    • Acker Street, for its entire length. 
  • And to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Constantine Road for its entire length.
  • And to temporarily suspend the Borough of Rochdale (Baillie Street, Rochdale) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 2013 in that vehicles will be permitted to travel in both directions on Baillie Street between its junctions with Bell Street and Acker Street.
  • And to temporarily introduce one-way working on Baillie Street from its junction with Constantine Road to its junction with Bell Street in that vehicles will be prohibited from travelling in a westerly direction between its junction with Constantine Road to its junction with Bell Street. 

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 5 March 2018 - 6pm, Thursday, 5 September 2019.
Reason: to facilitate the safe construction of a retail development. 
Alternative route: Due to the nature of the temporary orders, it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Location: Baillie Street

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Baillie Street from its junction with Milton Street to its junction with John Street.
Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 9 April 2018 - 6pm, Tuesday, 8 October 2019. 
Reason: to facilitate ground remediation work in relation to the Riverside Development.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Milton Street, Smith Street and John Street. 

Location: The Strand​

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along The Strand from a point 240 metres west of the junction of Mornington Road.
Expected start and finish: 8am, Thursday, 10 May 2018 - 6pm, Friday, 29 June 2018.
Reason: to facilitate safe civil engineering works on the highway.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Aldwich Road, Daventry Road, Balderstone Road and Mornington Road.

LocationOldham Road

to create a one-way working in a southerly direction which will temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Oldham Road from a point 50 metres north of its junction with Queensway to a point one metre north of its junction with Queensway. Traffic will not be allowed to proceed in a northerly direction between these 2 points.
Expected start and finish: 8am-5pm, Sunday, 20 May 2018.
Reason: to facilitate telecommunications infrastructure works on the highway.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Kingsway, Milnrow Road and Oldham Road.

Location: St Thomas’ Whit Walk, Newhey

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along:

  • Railway Street, for its entire length.
  • Huddersfield Road, from its junction with Railway Street to its junction with Haugh Lane.
  • Haugh Lane, for its entire length.
  • Two Bridges Road, for its entire length.
  • Shaw Road, from its junction with Two Bridges Road to its junction with Newhey Road, Huddersfield Road and Cedar Lane.
  • Newhey Road, from its junction with Shaw Road, Huddersfield Road and Cedar Lane to its junction with Royds Street.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am-11:30am, Sunday, 20 May 2018.
Reason: to facilitate the safe holding of the St Thomas’ Whit Walk 2018. 
Alternative route: Due to the nature and duration of the event it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

  • St James Street, for its entire length.
  • Smith Hill, from its junction with St James Street to its junction with Crossgates Road.

  • Pennine Drive, for its entire length.
  • Cornfield Street, from its junction with Pennine Drive to its junction with Wellington Street.
  • Wellington Street, from its junction with Cornfield Street to its junction with Charles Lane.
  • Charles Lane, from its junction with Wellington Street to its junction with Butterworth Hall.
  • Butterworth Hall, for its entire length.
  • New Street, from its junction with Butterworth Hall to its junction with Royds Street.
  • Royds Street, from its junction with New Street to its junction with Sheriff Street.
  • Sheriff Street, from its junction with Royds Street to its junction with Newhey Road.
  • Newhey Road, from its junction with Ladyhouse Lane to its junction with the entrance to the John Milne Public House.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am-12noon, Sunday, 20 May 2018.
Reason: to facilitate the safe holding of the Milnrow Parish Walk of Witness 2018. 
Alternative route: Due to the nature and duration of the event it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Area: Heywood

Location: Heywood Footpath 117

to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along Heywood Footpath 117, HeyFp117, from its junction with restricted byway RocARuppl6 and footpath RocAFpl0 at Deans Brow (point A) continuing in a northerly direction for 22 metres (point B) and then proceeding in a generally north north west direction for 1,044 metres to the most southerly corner of Naden Higher Reservoir (point C).

Expected start and finish: 12.01am, Thursday, 26 April 2018 - midnight, Friday, 26 October 2018
Reason: to facilitate underground cabling works by Electricity North West Limited.
Alternative route: there is no alternative route for pedestrians.

Location: Fox Street

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Fox Street from a point one metre south of its junction with Bethel Street to a point one metre north of its junction with Taylor Street.

Expected start and finish: 7am, Wednesday, 13 June 2018 - 5pm, Wednesday, 20 June 2018
Reason: to facilitate the installation of new multi utilities services in the carriageway.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Taylor Street, Mary Street, Hill Street and will be signed on site.

Area: Pennines

Location: Littleborough Footpaths near Timbercliffe

to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along Littleborough Footpath 302, LitFp302, from its junction with Littleborough Footpath 313, LitFp313, and Littleborough Footpath 317, LitFp317, located approximately 180 metres east south east from properties known as Timbercliffe and running in a north easterly direction for its entire length to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 300, LitFp300, and Littleborough Footpath 303, LitFp303, located approximately 170 metres south west of the property known as Leach Farm.
Expected start and finish: 8am, Thursday, 22 February 2018 - midnight, Wednesday, 22 August 2018.
Reason: to facilitate works to install a below ground sheet pile wall along the length of embarkment at the southern end of Upper Chelburn Reservoir.
Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians is from its junction with Littleborough Footpath 313, LitFp313, and Littleborough Footpath 317, LitFp317, at E395045, located approximately 180 metres east south east from properties known as Timbercliffe along Littleborough Footpath 317, LitFp317, and Littleborough Footpath 318, LitFp318, for the entire length to Longley Hey Farm and then in a north easterly direction and then in a northerly direction along Littleborough Footpath 303, LitFp303, for its entire length to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 300 and 302, LitFp300 and LitFp302, located approximately 170 metres south west of the property known as Leach Farm.

Location: Littleborough Footpaths near Calf Lee

to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along part of Littleborough Footpath 283, LitFp283, from its junction with Todmorden Footpath 148, TodFp148, and Todmorden Footpath 152, TodFp152, located approximately 545 metres east north east from a property known as Calf Lee and running in a generally south easterly direction for approximately 400 metres to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 283, LitFp283, located approximately 847 metres east of the property known as Calf Lee.
Expected start and finish: 8am, Thursday, 22 February 2018 - midnight, Wednesday, 22 August 2018.
Reason: to facilitate works to reduce the risk of failure by seepage of water through the embankment and foundation at Warland Reservoir.
Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians is from its junction with Todmorden Footpath 148, TodFp148. and Todmorden Footpath 152, TodFp152, located approximately 545 metres east north east from a property known as Calf Lee and running in a north-north-westerly direction along Todmorden Footpath 152, TodFp152, then joining Todmorden Footpath 200, TodFp200, for approximately 180 metres to its junction with Todmorden Footpath 153, TodFp153, and then following TodFp153 in a south easterly direction for approximately 1,300 metres before turning in a south westerly direction between Warland Reservoir and Light Hazzles Reservoir for a distance of 600 metres to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 283, LitFp283, and vice versa.

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along:

  • Arm Road, for its entire length.
  • New Road, from its junction with Arm Road to Featherstall Road.
  • Featherstall Road, for its entire length.
  • Church Street, from Featherstall Road to its junction with Hare Hill Road.
  • Hare Hill Road, from its junction with Church Street to the entrance to Hare Hill Park.

Expected start and finish:12.30pm-2.30pm, Sunday, 20 May 2018.
Reason: to facilitate the safe holding of the Littleborough Churches Together Walk event 2018. 
Alternative route: Due to the nature and duration of the event it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Location: Arm Road/New Road

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Arm Road from its junction with New Road for a distance of 10 metres in a north westerly direction. 
Expected start and finish: 8am, Tuesday, 29 May 2018 - 6.30pm, Thursday, 31 May 2018
Reason: to facilitate the safe installation of telecommunication cables in the carriageway.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be New Road, Finance Street, James Street and Arm Road.
