Eight arrests made following raids in Rochdale

Eight people have been arrested after early morning raids in Rochdale.

As part of an ongoing investigation led by GMP’s Serious and Organised Crime Group into the possession and distribution of controlled drugs in Rochdale, warrants were executed on Thursday 17 (May 2018).

Properties were searched in Rochdale, Lancashire, West Yorkshire and Staffordshire and eight men have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Over the course of the investigation, officers have recovered 14kgs of Class A drugs, with a street value of around £1million, as well as over £80,000 in cash.

Enquiries into the possession and distribution of controlled drugs, continue.

Detective Inspector Lee Griffin of GMP’s Serious and Organised Crime Division, said: “Our investigation into the supply of Class A drugs in Rochdale continues - this morning’s action is only one part of it.

“The supply of drugs is something that will not be tolerated on our streets and our officers are working around the clock to target those involved in drug operations.

“I’d like to thank the public for sharing information with us, as it has helped with today’s action, and I’d encourage anyone who knows about the supply of drugs in their area, to get in touch.”
