Christmas cards not banned by school!
Date published: 11/12/2007
Healey Primary School has not, despite reports in some sections of the media last week, banned children from sending Christmas cards, the school has simply asked infant age children to send one card to their whole class to avoid upset for children who do not receive any personal cards.
Parents were informed of the decision via a note, which stated: "Please could parents send just one Christmas card to the whole class rather than asking school for a whole class name list. This is to avoid tears and tantrums which often occur when Christmas cards are distributed."
A spokeswoman for the school said: "The cost of so many cards is prohibitive for some families and we feel that children are often pressurised to act in the same way as their peers."
The spokeswoman declared that the school has many other Christmas activities taking place.
