Free schemes of work for all primary school teachers

Today’s school pupils will be tomorrow’s workforce and with the Kingsway Business Park due for completion by 2020 this statement couldn’t be more to the point.

Kingsway will host a business community of 7,250 employees in a range of jobs from IT to logistics, hospitality to engineering or call centres to finance. The Kingsway Recruitment Team (KRT) are aiming to get as many local people as possible in to these jobs.

Educating the future workforce of the opportunities that will be available to them is paramount. Part of the KRT’s remit is to raise aspirations and help Rochdale’s workforce, present and future, to see their potential and the opportunities that lie ahead.

KRT has been liaising with as many schools as possible and introducing Kingsway in to the curriculum. We are working with over 10 schools over a range of subjects including English, Biology, Geography, Art, Drama and Business Studies.

They have even worked and continue to work with St Peters C of E Primary School on a cross curriculum project focused on Kingsway. The project was led by Mrs Alex McGarry, Head of Year 4, who commented, "Kingsway isn’t a text book project, it’s real and it’s happening on our doorstep. Teaching our pupils about Kingsway, its impact and the opportunities it will provide in the future, is very important. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the project completing debates, ecology studies, traffic statistics and site visits."

Thanks to the hard work of Mrs McGarry and her enthusiasm to share this project, KRT have available for all primary school teachers the complete schemes of work on Kingsway. This covers a number of subjects as it is cross curriculum and can be adapted for any school year.
