Questions in 'writing only' at tonight's area forum
Reporter: Kirsty Rigg
Date online: 12 January 2009
Residents attending the Milkstone and Deeplish Area Forum are having to submit their questions in writing, instead of taking part in a live question and answer session.
The forum, which is taking place tonight (Monday 12 January) will only accept questions which are submitted on arrival.
Rochdale Township brought in the new system to limit the number of questions and make sure the meeting doesn’t go over time, and no additional questions will be answered.
Members of the public will meet with church and mosque leaders, police officers and organisers of local events to bring any controversial issues out in the open.
Rochdale Online reported last week how vandals attacked Zion Baptist Church with offensive slurs about the bombing of Gaza, which is said to be one of the topics of conversations.
The meeting will take place at Deeplish Community Centre at 6.30pm.
Comments
This is probably one of the largest attended forums in Rochdale so in order that questions can be put forward and answered this makes sense. Meetings should be kept to time but this one in the past notoriously over ran. Let's have a bit of order.
Have Your Say

WILL THIS CHANGE OF RULE APPLY TO ALL ‘FORUMS’? IF SO THIS IS YET ONE MORE PUBLIC FACE TO FACE ACCESS TO THE COUNCIL BEING DENIED TO VOTERS.
