Welcome to Rochdale Borough Family Information Service

On Friday 15 June, Sure Start, Rochdale will launch the Family Information Service. The service will provide information on all aspects of childcare from how to find a childminder to looking up fun social activities to do in the holidays.

The Family Information Service will replace the Childcare Information and Recruitment Service, to reflect the now wider remit of the service which covers information for families with children aged 0 – 20 years old. This will include family support and advice services, information on nurseries and pre-schools, early education grants, out of school and holiday clubs, social events, tax credits and support for parents with disabled children. 

The service includes a helpline which parents, professionals and childcare providers can call to get the latest information on all aspects of childcare or careers in childcare.

There is also a team of co-ordinators who offer a one to one advice and guidance service and a job matching service for those looking at going into a career in childcare.

The new name will boast a new design, which will shortly appear on promotional materials and service literature.

Family Information Service Manager, Shirley Harrison said: "This is an exciting time for the Family Information Service as we have a fresh look and an exciting range of services for families with children from 0 – 20 years.  We want to encourage calls from parents looking for childcare provision, employers working with their employees to find childcare solutions and professionals whether working in childcare or in an associated sector.  Our dedicated team will be happy to help on all aspects of childcare.  We have a huge bank of information and resources to refer to and we work closely with other organisations to offer a good quality service."
