Woman hurt in Road Traffic Incident on Turf Hill Road
Date published: 25 July 2009
A woman was taken by ambulance to Rochdale Infirmary this afternoon, Saturday 25 July, after her car was hit by a car that had "lost control" attempting to take the bend at the Turf Hill Road/Kingsway junction "far too fast".
The woman, driving a gold Ford Fiesta, is, according to police at the scene, suffering only minor injuries but has been taken to hospital as a precaution.
A witness described the driver of a red Fiat Punto as a "young inexperienced male driver", apparently in his first year of driving, taking the bend from Kingsway to Turf Hill Road, "far too fast, losing control, and as a result crossing the centre line and colliding with the Ford Fiesta".

Since the opening of Isaac Newton Way, many people are taking more risks at this corner.
I blame persons short cutting through Turf Hill Estate, from Balderstone.
There will be a few more accidents around this juction, in due course, unless some restriction is placed at Kingsway and Turf Hill junction - traffic lights would be ideal.
