Dog stabbed after attack

Date published: 30 September 2009

A man stabbed a Bulldog with a knife after it escaped from its garden and attacked his dog.

The man was walking his dog, a Bullmastiff, with his girlfriend on Turner Street in Falinge at around 11.55pm on Thursday (24 September).

The other dog, identified as a Bulldog cross-breed, bit the Bullmastiff, which was on a lead, on the face and leg, prompting the man to stab it in the stomach.

The bulldog later died and the Bullmastiff had to be treated for bite injuries.

Police inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Another good reason why all dogs should be on a lead.

So, this man just happened to have a knife on his person to enable him to stab an escaped dog should he come across one?

I wouldn't expect a dog in its own garden to be on a lead Lynne.
I'm not saying its ok to have a vicious dog, far from it.
I also know it maybe shouldn't have been allowed to escape, but my dogs have managed to get over a 6' fence believe it or not.
I was more concerned that the guy had a knife with him, why was he carrying a knife?

The dog did get out but nobody knows how and his dog also got out, he wasn't walking the dog as I was told. It's disgusting what has happened and if he and his girlfriend were so innocent they wouldn't have run off and left. He knew what he was doing when he was telling her to get the knife. I just hope we get justice for 'Laser' the dog.
