Finalists announced for Miss Rochdale 2009

Your votes have been counted and the finalists for Miss Rochdale 2009 can now be announced.

Rochdale Online readers have been voting for their favourite of the 25 entrants, with a total of 1,322 votes received since voting opened last Monday.

The ten finalists for Miss Rochdale 2009 are (in alphabetical order):

The girls now go through to the stylish grand final at the Broadfield Park Hotel and the winner, as chosen by our judges, will receive a grand prize worth more than £2000.

The finalists will take to the stage in front of a packed out audience at the Broadfield on Friday 20 November while there will also be a fashion show on the night with clothes from local retailers Denis Hope, 25 Ten Boutique and Chantilly.

On the night of the final the girls will walk the stage twice, once in dress of their choice and once in a swimsuit of their choice, and be interviewed briefly by the compere Paul Turner-Mitchell of 25 Ten Boutique.

The overall winner, as chosen by the four judges at the grand final, will win a fabulous prize of hair care and products from Greg Couzens for a year, clothes from Denis Hope, clothes from 25 Ten Boutique, lingerie from Chantilly, a make over and photo shoot at The Studio in Rochdale and a bouquet from Funky Floral Design.

Tickets to see the final are priced at £10 and will be on a first come first served basis as a sell out is anticipated.

The person I voted for and the other two I thought would go through have not made it. Surely a young lady representing the town should look stunning without having a ton of make piled on her face covering blemishes and bags. most of the finalists have clever lighting and way too much make up on. Its Miss Rochdale not Boots make up counter.

I think from the pictures either 3, 5 or 6 will win.

I think all the girls are gorgeous and would be great at representing Rochdale. And I disagree totally with the comment by M Tomlinson. Instead of insulting them, why not congratulate?

M Tomlinson, nice to know that you are just going off looks; maybe consider that some of these girls have brains too. Isn't that what Miss Rochdale should be about? Someone who has brains as well as being pretty?
I know two of the girls in the final, I went to school and sixth form with them and I can say that they are pretty and that they have brains.
Are you sour maybe?

I am one of the finalists, I actually gained all of my GCSE's with 2 A*'s and the rest ranging from A-C (there's your "brains").
I don't "cake" myself in make up either.
Thank you for your comments M Tomlinson, everyone's entitled to an opinion, it's just unfortunate that yours is not wanted!
All of the finalists seem lovely! Stop trying to put us down.
