River Island encourages 2000 extra people to Rochdale Exchange

Fashion retailer River Island has boosted the footfall in the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre despite being open for less than a month.

The outlet's move has seen it increase its target market in Rochdale with the introduction of men's fashion to its retail store. Job opportunities were also increased with the move.

Lorenzo O’Reilly, Rochdale Exchange Centre Manager commented: "River Island opening in the Exchange was one of the most eagerly awaited store openings in recent years. On Saturday 10 October when they opened, 2000 extra people visited the centre compared to the previous Saturday.

"River Island's move from outside the Exchange has seen them increase their footprint in the town and introduce menswear to the retail offer. This is great for Rochdale and undoubtedly great for the retail offer in the Exchange which is the retail core of the town centre. As a Shopping Centre we are aware that the fashion offer is one of the greatest attractions when customers are deciding where to shop.

"This letting was the third of four lettings achieved this year and followed the recent new D2 store opening and the arrival of Poundland. Since River Island completed the move we have also signed Redd (an independent fashion retailer) which opened on 16 October."

I for one am pleased that River Island has started to sell menswear as well as ladies. Getting clothes for my son was proving to be a bit of a hassle. Last week I nipped in town and went in this shop, I came out with a bag full of trendy stuff that I have had to go elsewhere for before now.

Its important to build on this momentum. Few more good shops like this and a lot more people will stop going to other towns
