Conservatives announce Heywood and Middleton candidate

Date published: 01 December 2009

South Middleton Councillor Mike Holly has been appointed as the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Heywood and Middleton constituency.

Councillor Holly has lived in the constituency for over 20 years and is married with three grown up children.

He is a chartered accountant who worked in Manchester for more than 30 years for the international accountancy firm KPMG. He retired from the firm in 2005, having been a partner for 19 years.

Since his retirement, aside from his work as a Councillor, he has been involved with the Pennine Acute NHS Hospitals Trust where he is a non-executive director and chairman of the Audit Committee and he is Deputy Chairman of the Audit Committee of the examination board AQA.

Councillor Holly said: "I am delighted to have been adopted as the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Heywood and Middleton constituency, particularly as I have lived in the constituency for so long and as I already represent one of its wards as a Councillor."

Comments

Firstly, I should congratulate Mr Holly on his selection. Secondly, I should like to know his views on important issues. In particular, I should like to ask:
1. What are Mike's views on the government's plans to maintain and upgrade the Trident nuclear missile system?
2. Does Mike want our troops brought home from Afghanistan?
