Pennine Trust - re-appointment of non-executive director

The Appointments Commission has confirmed the re-appointment of Tim Pickstone as a non-executive director of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the hospitals in Rochdale, Bury, North Manchester and Oldham.

Mr Pickstone, who has already served one term as a non-executive director of the Trust, has also been appointed by the Trust Board as the vice-chairman for the next 12 months.

In addition to being a councillor in Bury, Mr Pickstone is also a governor of Prestwich Arts College and St Margaret’s C of E High School.

His appointment takes effect from 1 January, 2007, and lasts to 31 December 2010.

John Jesky, chairman of Pennine Acute Trust, said: "Tim has done some excellent work with the Trust, and I very much look forward to continuing to work with him, now not only as a non-executive director but in his new role as vice-chairman."

A spokesman for the Trust said: "The appointment has been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments’ (OCPA) Code of Practice. All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirements for appointees’ political activity (if any is declared) to be made public."

The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust was established in April 2002 and runs hospitals in Rochdale, Bury, North Manchester and Oldham. Serving a population of approximately 800,000, the Trust is one of the largest in the country. It employs a staff of 10,000 across five hospital sites: Rochdale Infirmary, Birch Hill Hospital, Fairfield General Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital and The Royal Oldham Hospital.
