Weather warning from GMP

Due to the severe weather conditions, Greater Manchester Police is urging motorists to avoid any un-necessary journeys.

Severe winds have caused numerous problems on the roads. Many sections of the motorway network across Greater Manchester are closed and will remain closed for some time.

Information from the MET office suggests that the winds will remain extremely strong for at least another hour, but are expected to die down in the early evening.

Motorists who do have to make any kind of journey are urged to take extreme caution and remain patient, as there are likely to be lengthy queues on most roads.
