Heywood crime blitz
Date published: 15 February 2010
Police are planning a crackdown on crime and disorder in Heywood Town Centre as part of an intense week of action.
The week of action that will take place 8-15 March 2010 will focus on tackling the issues pertinent to Heywood’s town centre.
Police and council enforcement officers will be part of operations designed to help catch criminals, deter crime and punish those who ignore the law.
Inspector Darrell Butterworth of Heywood’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We know that anti-social behaviour in the town centre around the pubs, Times Retail Park and the sports and leisure arena has been a problem in recent months. That’s why we’ve put plans in place to do something about it.
“Expect to see a greater police presence in the town centre on patrol during the day and night, particularly on the weekend to deter youth nuisance and crackdown on criminal damage and violent crime.”

Funny this, we are constantly being told by Jim Dobbin that there is now no crime worth even speaking about in the country.
Still, good training excercise for the police.
