Soul sensation is a hit with the crowd

The Waterside Bar and Restaurant, Littleborough was the place to be last night for fans of soul and motown classics – as diners were treated to a tribute performance from Freddie Mensah.
The first set was a slow set mixed with ballads and all time classics, including ‘That’s what friends are for’ by Dione Warwick, ‘Three Times a Lady’ by The Commodores and Michael Buble's recent hit, ‘Home.’
As soon as the set began, the audience was in love with Freddie's soulful and gentle voice, arms waving in the air to slower tracks.
The second set was more up-tempo and after the first song, ‘Signed, sealed, delivered’ by Stevie Wonder, tables were moved to make way for a dance floor and the audience were soon up on their feet dancing.
Freddie Mensah told Rochdale Online reporter Laura Wild that he fell into music almost by accident eight years ago: “My life circumstances led me to singing. I love what I am doing and I have never looked back since. I am looking to have a job I enjoy!”
Lisa Holt, Manager of the Waterside Bar and Restaurant, said: “I absolutely love him. He does a great job and I am so glad I found him.”
For all those people out there who aren’t soul music fans or think it isn’t for them, this reviewer urges you to listen to Mr Mensah, I doubt this will be the last time we hear about him.
