Building Fire on Mellor Street

At approximately 10.30pm on Tuesday 23 May firefighters attended a blaze in a two storey mill at the junction of Mellor Street, Bury Road and College Road.

The fire was established and developing when the first firefighters arrived on the scene but it was brought under control and prevented from spreading to adjacent buildings. Six fire engines and two aerial appliances with 40 firefighters were in attendance.

There have been no reported casualties and an investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire.
