Milnrow band take part in test piece preview

Milnrow band was one five bands to take part in a test piece preview concert on Sunday (19 February), ahead of the North West Regional Championships in Blackpool this weekend.

The band joined with bands from Greenfield, Boarshurst, Dobcross and Diggle at the Boarshurst Band Club.

The bands are all due to compete in various sections of the North West Regional Championships of the National Championships of Great Britain at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on Sunday 26 February.

They were invited to the Club to preview their individual test piece for the contest.

On hand to dispense opinions, constructive criticism and advice after each performance were two eminent adjudicators from the world of brass bands, David Horsfield and Colin Hardy; the compere for the evening was David Ashworth.

Milnrow band, under the director of Marieka Gray delivered a performance of their test piece ‘The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea’ by Derek Bourgeous.
