Severe weather information

With heavy rain leading to flooding in many areas of the borough Rochdale Council have advised motorists to take extra care and the public to remain vigilant during the severe weather.

With a risk of snow and ice in the next 48 hours the council has deployed additional gritting teams throughout the area.

The council will be assessing the situation early Tuesday morning (22 January 2008) and providing extra support staff where required, to assist with the clean up.

The latest weather information and advice is available on the Environment Agency and Met Office websites.

Due to the high risk of flooding, some council buildings, including the Town Hall closed on Monday afternoon (21 January 2008), but are expected to be open as usual on Tuesday 22 January 2008.
