Sports shop closes

Date published: 05 October 2012

Rochdale based sports retailer Romida Sports is in administration.

The cricket clothing and equipment specialist has its head office in Rochdale and a further three shops in Liverpool, West Yorkshire and Surrey - a notice on the company website says all the shops are closed until further notice.

Kerry Bailey and Jonathan Newell of PKF (UK) LLP were appointed Joint Administrators of Romida Sports Limited on 4 October 2012. The Joint Administrators are seeking a purchaser for the small chain of sports retail shops.

The family business has traded for more than 30 years and is known within the retail cricket sector.
The Manchester office of financial services firm PKF is looking for a buyer for the business as a whole or as separate units.

Joint administrator Kerry Bailey, a partner in PKF's corporate recovery team, said: "Whilst efforts were made by Romida over the last few weeks to turn the business around and secure investment, the management took the decision to appoint administrators."
