The Wheatsheaf Centre
Plans are being prepared to create a new entrance to the Wheatsheaf Centre on Baillie Street.
As part of the Town Centre East development it is proposed that the bus station, municipal offices and overhead walkways will be demolished and the site redeveloped for shopping and leisure scheme. The proposed new Wheatsheaf entrance will replace the overhead walkway spanning Baillie Street.
The construction of a new attractive entrance on Baillie Street will enable the new Town Centre East development to be fully integrated with the Wheatsheaf shopping centre and the town centre retailing along Yorkshire Street and the Exchange Centre.
The proposed new entrance works will include two lifts and two escalators allowing shoppers to get from Baillie Street to lower and upper mall levels of the Wheatsheaf Centre.
